Release Notes
Track what's new in every version of OST Visualizer.
This update introduces a completely redesigned interface and a smoother, more intuitive visualization experience. The app now uses a modern UI framework that automatically matches your system’s light or dark theme, and the 3D viewer is fully integrated into the main window with no extra pop-up windows.
New Features
- The entire application has been upgraded to a modern interface that follows your system theme. Whether your computer is set to light mode or dark mode, the visualizer will now match it automatically.
Improvements
- You no longer need to press “Start Visualization” or choose a renderer. The 3D view is now built directly into the main window.
- You can now add multiple databases to a built-in file manager and quickly load or unload them without having to reopen files every time you start the app.
- The 3D view now respects which layers you have turned on or off in the OST. If a layer is hidden in OST, its takeoffs will also be hidden in the 3D visualization.
- The old visualization engines have been removed (ThreeJS and Trimesh), and the app now uses a single, faster renderer built directly into the main window.
Bug Fixes
- Some buttons in the previous version appeared too small or became compressed on certain screen sizes or display scaling settings. By moving the interface from Tkinter to Qt, the application now handles scaling automatically, and all buttons and controls display correctly across different monitors and resolutions.
- The previous version had several memory leaks that could cause the app to use more RAM over time. These have been significantly reduced, resulting in smoother performance and improved stability during long sessions.
